Building Friends, Developing People
Okay, so it’s March and it’s not exactly “New Years” time any more, but since official programs at the CCMF start around the end of March/beginning of April, for the CCMF it almost time for the new year. To give you synopsis of what’s to come – it’s going to be epic.
Ideally, we like to start programs in mid-March, but this year we’ve bumped the kick-off date into the beginning of April because there is so much in store and a lot of prep work to do and, most importantly, we want everything to be awesome (see “epic,” above).
This year, we’re refining the Fair Play system, upping the quality of soccer skills being delivered, developing to the Life Skills program to make it more attractive and mentorship-based, creating a really solid 3-year leadership program, adding a tutoring program, and expanding target group to include more girls, very young kids, and older boys.
I should mention, even though “official” programs are starting a little later than they did last year, the field is still swarming with kids playing matches and going through Life Skills session every day, the Crime Prevention League is still running every Friday, and recruitment tournaments have already taken place. The only difference is that in April, “friendly” matches end and we start keeping score.
