Dan Wagner is the Men's Soccer Coach at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster PA. In March of 2007, Wagner attended a church services at LCBC that changed his life forever. The service included a replay of an interview between Bono and Bill Hybels- head pastor of Willow Creek Community Church. In the interview Bono said that the Sub-Saharan HIV/AIDS epidemic was the "leprosy" of our age and asked the Church to join in the fight.

Shortly after, Wagner committed to bring all the resources he could muster to support one community in Africa. The original work was simply called the "F&M Soccer Africa Project" and Site B Khayelitsha was chosen as the partner community. Wagner's goal was to first connect his soccer team to Site B Khayelitsha, expand to his College community and finalize with Lancaster County.

After endless fund raising efforts in 07/08, the project launched when Wagner led his soccer team to Khayelitsha in March 2008. With a delegation of 52, the soccer team played soccer matches in the Cape Town region, ran soccer camps in conjunction with Grassroots Soccer, and announced the construction of Campbell Field. 4 months later, Ryan McGonigle (F&M 08') returned to the field to serve the community and oversee operations at the Campbell Field.

One ending becomes the next beginning

Sorry for our lack of posting for the last week of our F&M soccer team trip trip. We had a tremendous time on the Garden Route and did some very intense things- however- none came close to what we experience at Campbell Field. We used our lack of internet as an excuse to not post; but the reality is nothing compared to our experiences in the Township.

I do want to mention that Loyiso Damoyi. Joined us for the PE leg. He is a member of the programing team at the field and is an…
